TERA's Open Beta for PS4 and Xbox One kicks off next month

In 2011, TERA was released for PC players to enjoy. I still remember the game’s fantastic combat system and fighting BAMS (Big Ass Monsters), gathering more loot than I could ever use. The game’s action combat that requires you to dodge attacks in real time, learn an enemy’s attack patterns and pull off some insane combos felt incredible and I think will fit perfectly on consoles.

Well, next month on 9 March 2018, console players will finally get to play the game. In a Press Release, En Masse Entertainment announced that the Open Beta for TERA will kick off on PS4 and Xbox One starting March 9, 2018, at 6:00 a.m. Pacific and will run until March 12, 2018, at 12:00 a.m. PST. For South Africans, that’s 9 March at 12:00, so mark those calendars and get ready for some of the best combat in an MMORPG out there.

In the aforementioned Press Release, Matt Denomme, Senior Product Manager at En Masse Entertainment, said that:

TERA’s development team at Bluehole, Inc. has taken great care to adapt the vast world of TERA and it’s best-in-genre action combat to console platforms. We feel the results speak for themselves and we’re excited to get the game in the hands of players during our upcoming Open Beta event weekend. Consoles need a solid MMORPG and TERA is prepared to deliver.

There is no indication just how big the download will be, but there should be some more information revealed closer to the open beta start date. However, if my initial experience with TERA on PC is anything to go by, PS4 and Xbox One owners should be pretty excited. The game is a whole lot of fun to play, so don’t miss out.

TERA is expected to see a full release on console come “Spring 2018”, so the Open Beta is the perfect way to check out if you will be investing more time into the game when it releases. Keep in mind that the game is free-to-play on PC, so it should be the same on console and include all the expansions and updates.

Watch the TERA console Open Beta trailer below and then tell us if you will be joining in to try the game out next month in the comment section.
