Fortnite obliterates PUBG in NFL Star's Twitter Poll

Yesterday, NFL superstar and 2017's Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the year, JJ Watt, asked his 5.13 million Twitter followers the following question; "Fortnite or PubG?" He then ran a Twitter Poll because "This will be easier to see..."

The results are perhaps a bit unexpected, as Fortnite totally crushed PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

  • Fortnite: 74%
  • PUBG: 26%

One could argue that Fortnite has more players because its battle royale mode is free-to-play and available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. On the other hand, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has been out for longer and crushed just about every Steam record in history. It has also been a roaring success on Xbox One's Preview Program, selling an estimated 582 000 units in its first week at retail. Fortnite's success only started when the game's battle royale mode went free-to-play in September last year. Just two months after that Epic Games reported that Fortnite passed the 20 million players milestone in its battle royale mode!

Watt's Twitter poll, of course, doesn't speak for every Fortnite and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds gamer, but it is an interesting stat none the less. It is unclear why he posed the question, but it could be that he is looking for a video game to play as its currently offseason and Watt has been unable to train due to a season-ending injury.

What is your take on the results?

In other Fortnite news, Epic announced the details for season 3's battle pass, and it's taking battle royale players to space (season two had a medieval theme). If you want to strut your stuff in a cute spacesuit, then you can purchase the battle pass to unlock the Mission Specialist Outfit. The battle pass contains the best cosmetics for the game, and season three has 30 more tiers than the previous season. More tiers mean more loot. The more weekly challenges you complete, the more tiers you unlock and the more loot you get.

Fortnite and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds might be the only two battle royale games on your radar, but that doesn't mean there are no other options.
