Overwatch free weekend.jpg

By now, most people who wanted to have probably played Blizzard’s brilliant hero-based shooter, Overwatch. The game has seen a lot of content released and it is, in my opinion, better than ever. There have been quite a few free weekends, but this upcoming weekend is something a little more special and might bring some players back who enjoyed a previous free weekend.

The 2018 Lunar New Year celebrates the Year of the Dog and Overwatch has an awesome event going on right now The event runs until 5 March, which means players who participate in the free weekend will be able to enjoy the event, as well as the Blizzard World map released since the last free weekend.

Overwatch Free Weekend Details

Players will have access to everything the full game has to offer in the free weekend, including all 26 heroes, 17 maps and all the modes. You will also be able to level up, earn those Loot Boxes and unlock everything a player who has the game can.

The free weekend will be available to PC, PS4 and Xbox One players, but for console players, keep in mind that you do need a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live subscription in order to participate.

  • Free weekend kicks off on 16 February at 21:00 South African time
  • Free weekend ends on 20 February at 10:00 South African time

Keep in mind that any progress made during the free weekend will also carry over if you decide to purchase the game, just as long as you purchase it on the same PlayStation, Xbox Live or Blizzard account. If you have any friends who haven’t gotten into Overwatch yet, let them know about the free weekend, as the game is well worth experiencing, especially since it will be free-to-play over the weekend.
