Destiny 2 Crimson Days event begins next week: Bungie fixes loot drop issues

Bungie is under heavy observation in the industry right now and Destiny 2 is a sore subject for gamers. The game has been abandoned by millions after its disaster Curse of Osiris expansion and its overall badly implemented end-game mechanics. In short, people hate the game and whenever it comes up it gives gamers the opportunity to voice their opinions about why.

One of the biggest issues we had in December was during the Dawning Event where players had to grind mindlessly for only a chance to obtain a few specific event-themed engrams for that week. Bungie, unlike every other developer on the planet, did not add the Dawning Engrams into the loot pool so you literally had to spend money to get the items through Eververse. Well, it seems that they will not be repeating the same mistake with the upcoming Crimson Days event.

Beginning on 13 February and ending on 20 February, the Crimson Days will return and bring with it some decent Valentine's Day celebrations. 2v2 Clash will return and a new map called The Burnout which is not really a new map more like a reskinned version of one of my favourite maps from D1 The Burning Shrine. Bungie has put a lot of emphasis on the rewards pool for the game saying that they "tuned the experience for single-character play".

The 2v2 Clash will see you and a friend or random player found through matchmaking fight it out against another two players. If you guys stand close together then grenades and supers will recharge faster which puts an emphasis on the whole teamwork thing. Most rewards are found in the new Crimson Engrams and once you have a specific item it will lock you out of it so you cannot get it again taking away chances of getting duplicate gear.

Bungie also says that no matter what activity you play in during the Crimson Days event, players will get both an Illuminated Engram and a Crimson Engram when levelling up. This is something they should have done in December with The Dawning. All players no matter what expansion they own can also obtain rewards from the event too. You just need to be on level 25 or 20 depending on if you own the expansion or not. Bungie says there are five rewards for completing the following activities which will again give players reasons to play the game.

  • Complete the milestone “Welcome to Crimson Days” by finishing five Crimson Days matches and visiting Lord Shaxx in the Tower to earn the Fire of the Crimson Days Emblem and the Tirastrella Ghost Shell.
  • Complete matches in the Crimson Days Crucible playlist for a chance to earn the Undeterred Exotic Sparrow.
  • Complete either the Leviathan Raid or the Raid Lair: Eater of Worlds to claim the Dieselpunk Exotic Ornament for Wardcliff Coil from the final chest.
  • Complete the Nightfall Strike during the Crimson Days event to earn the Flaunting Dance Emote.

There will be a fair amount of gear to earn but at least once you have it you cannot get it again. You can also purchase things through Tess using Bright Dust or purchase engram packs for real money if you want. If anything, Bungie has laid down a fair field where all players can just play the game and get loot without having to take their wallets out, I am just wondering why it is only happening now.
