MGMS Rocket League Championship Qualifier 1 Results

This past Sunday, the last three teams standing in qualifier one of the MGMS Rocket League championship (sponsored by MWEB GameZone) faced off for the two available slots in the upcoming grand finals.

Rocket Eclair entered the final day of the qualifier as favourites following a strong year and faced VxP | Elem3ntriX in the first match of the day - the winner's bracket final. All the matches were a best of five series. Rocket Eclair showed why they were the favourites with a 3-0 series win and a total of 13 goals to the four scored by VxP | Elem3ntriX. While Rocket Eclair headed to the grand final to await their opponents, VxP | Elem3ntriX headed to the loser's bracket where Plakkie Klap were waiting.

The series was a closer affair than the previous match with two of the games decided by a single goal. VxP | Elem3ntriX claimed the series win 3-0 and scored a total of 11 goals to Plakkie Klap's seven. This set up a repeat of the winner's bracket final but with the two qualifying slots and money to play for. Both teams started cautiously but once Rocket Eclair found their rhythm, they again showed why they are currently South Africa's strongest team with a 3-0 series win and 11 goals to five.
