Assassin's Creed Rogue HD coming to current-gen consoles according to rumour

Last week, Assassin’s Creed Rogue HD (for PS4 and Xbox One) started popping up on multiple Italian retailer sites, but so far, Ubisoft has not confirmed that the game will indeed come to current-gen consoles. Now, another bit of evidence suggests that the game will indeed make its way to current-gen consoles, as the Korean Ratings Board as both the PS4 and Xbox One version of the game has been rated.

This is definitely a strong indication that the game will come to current-gen consoles, but until Ubisoft officially confirms as much, you should always take rumours like this one with a grain of salt. With that being said, the release of Assassin’s Creed Rogue HD is a pretty exciting prospect for those who moved over to a PS4 or Xbox One in 2014 and never looked back.

For those who don’t know, the game was released alongside AC: Unity and is always available via Backward Compatibility for Xbox One players. Assassins’ Creed Rogue has a lot of gameplay based on Black Flag and is, in fact, a sequel to the highly-rated 2013 Assassin’s Creed title. The story plays off in the mid-18th century and you play as Shay Patrick Cormac, who is an Assassin-turned-Templar as he hunts down former members of the brotherhood. The game’s story is quite dark and interesting. It is, in my opinion, a must-play for Assassins’ Creed fans. The game did receive a mixed reception from critics, with one of the reasons being that it lacked innovation and the gameplay was very much the same as that of Black Flag.

At the time of writing, nothing has been confirmed just yet, but I hope to see an official announcement pop up soon. It remains to be seen which enhancements Assassin’s Creed Rogue HD will have for current-gen consoles and if the if there will be PS4 Pro and Xbox One X support as well.

In case you want some free Assassin’s Creed action and missed our post yesterday, PC gamers should mark those calendars as they can grab Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag for free starting on 11 December.

Would you be interested in playing Assassin’s Creed Rogue on current-gen consoles and which improvements would you like to see?
