After Marco reviewed Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite back in September and gave the game an 8.4 out of 10, calling it a “mashup of awesome”, I was sold and since then, the game has been on my shopping list. I love the Marvel universe and if you are anything like me, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite should be something you would like to play, but maybe haven’t gotten around to yet.

Well, I’ve got some very good news for PlayStation Plus subscribers out there, as you will be able to try out the game in a free trial this weekend, called the Free Versus Mode Demo Weekend. You can head on over to the PlayStation Store and start downloading the demo right now to get ready for the weekend, as the download weighs in at 14.18 GB. The Free Versus Mode Demo Weekend will kick off on 8 December at 2 PM South African time and end on 11 December at 2 PM South African time.

Andy Wong, the Community Manager at Capcom, announced on the PlayStation Blog that:

With the one-year anniversary of the announcement coming up, we have decided to invite more heroes to play Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite with another Free Versus Mode Demo Weekend from December 8 to December 11! If you’re new to the game, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is a fighting game where players select a team of two iconic characters to bring into battle.

You’ll also choose one of six Infinity Stones, which all have unique abilities, to further customize your team to your liking. If you have ever wanted to witness Gamora and Rocket Raccoon taking on Ryu and Chun-Li, this game is definitely for you!” - Source

You need an active PlayStation Plus subscription to participate in the Free Versus Mode Demo Weekend and then you will be able to play against anyone who owns a copy of the game on PS4, as well as any other PlayStation Plus subscribers participating. All 30 launch characters will be available to play with, as well as two modes, namely:

  • Training Mode -  "Hone your skills or learn new characters in this mode that pits you against a training dummy. You might discover new teams, new combos, and new opportunities!"
  • Online Casual Match - "The system will be searching for an Online Casual Match during your time in Training Mode. Once one is found, you can test your skills against another player!"

Are you a PlayStation Plus subscriber and do you plan on trying out the free Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite demo this weekend? Check out our video review below and then tell us what you think in the comment section.
