Sea of Thieves release date announcement teased for The Game Awards

One of my most anticipated games to release next year is Rare's Sea of Thieves, which is also the next big Play Anywhere title for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. We've been expecting news about the release date for months, and now it seems we might have news before this coming weekend.

According to Aaron Greenberg, Head of Xbox Games Marketing, fans should watch The Game Awards livestream on Thursday, 7 December for “some more news on Sea of Thieves." Greenberg made the announcement during Microsoft's Extra Life Marathon on Mixer. Dualshockers reports that the news could very well be a release date announcement as Sea of Thieves Executive producer, Joe Neate, stated in his Insider Programme Report that news about the official release date is "coming soon."

Neate also mentions in the report that Rare will celebrate the release date announcement with a fun new trailer. Lastly, he also tweeted on December 2: "Not only #SeaOfThieves news coming at the game awards, but possibly the best confused creature cameo of all time. Get your gif game ready. Five more sleeps..."

The Game Awards will be streamed live from Los Angeles on December 7th. The fun begins at 5:30 PM PST or 3:30 AM SA time on December 8. Another reason to watch this year's The Game Awards is to see Kojima-san and Guillermo del Toro both on the stage as presenters. You might recall the controversy surrounding Konami and Kojima at the 2015 TGA, and Kojima's emotional speech during the 2016 event.

Hopefully, we will hear some Death Stranding news from Kojima at this years TGA. Seeing that all the drama is now behind us.
