Unlock special rewards with the Pokémon GO Global Catch Challenge

The above photo is one of ten winners of the Pokémon GO AR Photo Contest, you can check out all the winners here. As one event comes to an end, Niantic announces a new challenge, and everyone is invited.

Trainers from around the world can join The Pokémon GO Global Catch Challenge that runs with the Pokémon GO Travel video series that sees the world through the eyes of two Trainers visiting Japan.

"Join us as we discover new places, meet new people, and work together in an attempt to catch 3 billion Pokémon in just 7 days. Play along with IHasCupquake, Coisa de Nerd, and Rachel Quirico as they learn more about Japanese culture, inspire the world to play together, and update you on the amazing rewards the community unlocks along the way," reads the announcement on Pokemongolive.com.

The goal is to catch a total of 3 billion Pokémon, with rewards unlocking at specific stages, each with rewards. The higher the stage (bronze, silver, or gold), the more rewards unlock. At the final stage, with three billion Pokémon caught, Niantic will release Farfetch'd (worldwide) and Kangaskhan (East Asia) for 48 hours. Other rewards include double XP and special Pokémonmaking appearances across the globe.

The event runs from 20 - 26 November.
