Pokémon GO gets an update and datamine reveals two more legendaries

Yesterday, Pokémon GO was updated to versions 0.81.1 for Android and 1.51.1 for iOS. A subsequent datamine of the update uncovered some very interesting prospects for Trainers.

The update fixed three important issues:

  1. Resolved a bug that prevented Trainers from powering up Pokémon to their max CP.
  2. Resolved a bug that caused Trainers’ contributions to reset when rejoining a Raid Battle.
  3. Various bug fixes and performance updates.

We've been waiting for news of Ho-oh making an appearance in the game for some time now, and according to the datamine, the legendary might show up before the end of the year.

On the Sliph Road's Pokémon GO Reddit thread one Chrales posted two images of generation two Pokémon that was uncovered in their datamine of the latest patch. You can check out fully rendered images of both Ho-oh and Celebi here. The descriptions on the images read:

  • Celebi the Time Travel Pokémon: "This  Pokémon came from the future by crossing over time. It is thought that so long as Celebi appears, a bright and shining future awaits us."
  • Ho-oh the Rainbow Pokémon: Ho-oh's feathers glow in seven colours depending on the angles at which they are struck by light. These feathers are said to bring happiness to the bearers. This Pokémon is said to live at the foot of a rainbow."

If I am not mistaken, then we first heard word of Ho-oh appearing in Pokémon GO when Niantic introduced legendaries back in July this year. He was one of the Pokémon we saw in the official Raid and Legendaries video.

Hopefully, Niantic will add these final generation two Pokémon to Pokémon GO before the end of the year. It would be a very cool Thanksgiving gift!
