In the wee hours of the night last night, while I was completing the Leviathan Raid for the first time in Destiny 2, I was also watching one of Nintendo's unexpected Direct streams. While I expected great things from the company, I was actually blown away by the sheer amount of exciting announcements and reveals that took place. Nintendo really upped their game, if that is even possible right now given how epic the Switch is at the moment.

The Direct touched on current titles as well as gave release dates to new games and most of all, revealed some unexpected games coming to the Switch in the next few months. Here are some highlights from the Direct.

Skyrim dated, Wolfenstein II and DOOM coming to Switch

One of the biggest announcements to come out of the Direct has to be the reveal of DOOM and Wolfenstein II coming to the Nintendo Switch. This announcement is a huge step for the device as it means that the id Tech engine is now optimized for the hardware and we all know how great that engine is. It also means that Nintendo fans can shoot demons and Nazis. What more do you want in life?

While DOOM and Wolfenstein II do not have a release date right now, Nintendo did announce that the anticipated Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be headed to the console on 17 November. There will also be some exciting Legend of Zelda-themed items and gear you will be able to find and obtain by either using the right Amiibo in the game or searching for this rare gear somewhere in the world.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 dated

The sequel to the awesome Wii U game of the same name has been dated and it is coming very soon. Xenoblade Chronicles will release on 1 December 2017 only on the Nintendo Switch and will see your journey through massive open worlds and fight gigantic monsters. If anything, Xenoblade Chronicles will be one of the biggest RPGs to release on the Switch and if the Wii U version is anything to go by, this one will be bigger and better in every way.

Fire Emblem Warriors

The Dynasty Warrior spin off in the Fire Emblem series will release on 20 October 2017. This hack and slash will continue on the series' traditional RPG elements while taking on a new combat system stemming from the Dynasty Warriors series. You will fight hundreds of enemies as your favourite Fire Emblem heroes taken from all the different games in the series past. The game is launching only on Nintendo Switch.

Snipper Clips DLC

The awesome party game that sees you and a friend work together to cut each other up and make shapes to pass levels is getting a DLC, and it is going to add even more madness to the epic game. Sipperclips Plus: Cut it Out, Together! will release on the Switch as a DLC and add over thirty new levels to the game. The DLC will be available to purchase as a bundle with the original game or alone if you already own the title. It will be releasing on Switch on 10 November 2017.

The first Kirby game for Nintendo Switch has some charming new tricks. By throwing hearts, players can recruit up to three enemies to become Kirby’s allies. Whether playing alone or with up to three friends, mixing up abilities to create new powers is a big part of the fun. Kirby Star Allies launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch early next year.

Super Mario Odyssey Bundle

Last, but not least, Nintendo announced that the upcoming Super Mario Odyssey will be getting its own console bundle that will come with an awesome carry case for your Switch as well as a red Joy-Con. The bundle will launch on the same day as game launches on 27 October 2017. Nintendo revealed some great new game details too in the latest trailer which you can see below.

So there you have the biggest announcements out of the Nintendo Direct. If anything, the Switch is looking to be a tough competitor in the market at the moment and I cannot wait to get my hands on everything on this list.
