Valve announces a new card game and people are not happy about it

You would think that if Valve would ever announce a new game it would be perhaps a follow up to Portal 2, Team Fortress 2, or maybe even Half-Life 3? We are just thinking logically here, as it has been a couple of years since we have played a new Valve game. Well, Valve announced a new game at The International 2017's  Main Event and, people are losing their minds in outrage about it.

Valve filled the room with Dota fans and players from all over the globe and announced that they will be releasing a Dota card game in 2018 called Artifact. Now, you would think in a venue packed with Dota players, they would have even jumped a little bit with happiness about a new game based on the "world" of Dota, which will highlight the Dota lore, because why not have one of those too right Valve?

As much as this is kind of a good thing as it will further expand the universe and maybe shed some light on the game's heroes and lore, the crowd, and the Youtube likes say otherwise. Valve was literally booed after the announcement of the game and the crowd even sighed in disappointment.

At the time of writing, the reveal trailer, which is a bunch of stone blocks moving around the screen, has around 20k dislikes. Some people in the comments section have stated that this is indeed their biggest disappointment in life. While we know nothing about the card game at all, it is not hard to understand why people are a little bit frustrated at the developer's announcement that they are not working on anything we actually want, rather doing something that we have so many options to choose from already.

Gwent, Elder Scrolls: Legends, Hearthstone, those are just a few CCG out on the market. Valve has so many unused IPs at their disposal which is sad to see once again not being used. Sure, Dota is a worldwide phenomenon, and there is surely a market for this card game, but you have to admit that the backlash is kind of warranted.

Take a look at the highly criticised trailer below and let us know what you think about this sad turn of events in the comments section.
