PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds reaches yet another amazing milestone

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has taken the world by storm since its release on Steam’s Early Access back in March. Since then, Bluehole Studio has released weekly updates, improving the game before its full release later this year.

It is no secret that the game has seen a meteoric rise on Steam, and last week, I reported on the claiming third spot for concurrent users on Steam. Even though it was only for a brief moment, it was indeed an impressive achievement.

Last night, however, the game achieved an amazing milestone, one which has cemented it in the Steam records. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has claimed the fourth spot for highest peak player count in Steam history. Therefore, the game has surpassed Grand Theft Auto V and sits just below Fallout 4. The top two are, of course, Valve’s CS: GO and Dota 2, with the latter, sitting at the top spot by quite a large margin.

Player Unknown himself, Brendan Greene, took to Twitter to announce the awesome achievement, telling fans that their support of the game astounds him and announcing that PUBG surpassed GTA V on Steam in terms of highest peak player count.

I wonder how far the game can go and if it can one day beat CS: GO or even Dota 2. After playing it for a couple of hours one thing is certain – I am already addicted to it, even though I haven’t been able to finish in the top 20 once.

What do you think about PUBG’s latest amazing achievement and have you played the game yet? Let us know in the comment section below.
