What to expect from Xbox at gamescom 2017

Xbox gamescom.jpg

At this year's E3, Xbox wooed us with their Xbox One X unveiling, and at gamescom they will continue showcasing the console with some hands-on time for attendees. I'm hoping their press conference event will include at least one Xbox One X exclusive announcement, as well as gameplay showing that native 4K display.

"This will be the first time Xbox One X will be on the ground in Europe and we’ll have a huge line up of 27 playable games for the Xbox One family of devices and Windows 10 PC from developers around the world, including Forza Motorsport 7, Age of Empires: Definitive Edition and Sea of Thieves, announced Xbox Wire. "And throughout the week, we’ll be tweeting, live streaming and sharing news and content via social media – twitter, snapchat, Facebook, Mixer, etc, most often using the hashtag #XboxGC. Whether in person or online, you won’t want to miss what we have in store this year!"

Xbox at gamescom 2017

  • Live show: Sunday, August 20, at 9:00pm CEST, 12:00pm PDT

Xbox Social Marketing Manager, Graeme Boyd will host the event with Games Communications Manager, Maxi Graeff. Viewers can expect news about games, some giveaways, gameplay showcasing, and developer interviews. According to the press release, "There will even be a few surprises."

If you're an Age of Empires fan, then you should tune in (Monday, August 21, starting at 9:00pm CEST, 12:00pm PDT) for the 20th anniversary celebration. You'll also get a first-look at Age of Empires: Definitive Edition which was announced at E3 in June.

The Xbox FanFest is back this year and kicks off on August 22. More details to be announced soon.

Lastly, the biggest event will no doubt be the chance to get some hands-on time with the Xbox One X. Attendees will also get a first taste of some of the games soon to release on the Xbox One, Xbox One X, and Windows 10 PC. "You won’t want to miss the opportunity to play a wide collection of the games coming to Xbox over the next 12 months."

For those who can't attend gamescom, make sure to watch the live event, and to follow Xbox on twitter, snapchat, Facebook, Mixer, and other social media channels.
