Blizzard is listening to your Overwatch anniversary loot box reward complaints

If you've been trying to unlock those promised Overwatch Anniversary legendary skins, and you've been wondering why all you get are emotes and voice lines, then here's a consolation - Blizzard is listening.

Players took to the official Overwatch forum to complain about the crappy loot, and Game Director, Jeff Kaplan eventually left this reply: "I just wanted to acknowledge that we've been following the threads about the loot box rewards as they pertain to the anniversary events, other events and loot boxes in general. The feedback and suggestions have been helpful to us. We had a really great discussion yesterday about the feedback we've been hearing this week. While I don't have any immediate action items to report, I thought it was important for you to know that we are listening. Please feel free to continue your discussions about rewards, loot boxes, and anniversary cosmetic items in this thread. I'll ask the forum moderators to route all discussion on the topic to this thread."

I've been one of the unlucky people to only unlock emotes (no dance emotes), sprays and voice lines, and when I look at our team feedback, the rest haven't done any better. Earlier this month, Blizzard officially revealed Overwatch loot crate drop rates, because the Chinese government demanded all companies release that information to the public.

According to a post on Reddit, the anniversary event loot boxes have a different selection of rewards than previous seasonal events. It contains more legendary skins, and also costs more. Below is the breakdown from Reddit user Desks_up.

In total, buying all purchasable items from the Anniversary event requires 56,475 credits for 108 items:

  • 11 Legendary skins: 33,000 (~58.4% of total cost)
  • 24 dance emotes: 18,000 (~31.9% of total cost)
  • 48 voice lines: 3,600 (~6.4% of total cost)
  • 25 sprays: 1,875 (~3.3% of total cost)

This is much more expensive compared to the total cost of the previous events:

  • Uprising: 36,825 credits for 95 items
  • Year of the Rooster: 37,050 credits for 99 items
  • Winter Wonderland: 33,075 credits for 94 items
  • Halloween Terror: 31,500 credits for 94 items
  • Summer Games: 0 credits for 0 items (32,250 for 72 items if they were buyable)

Have you had any luck with the anniversary loot box rewards, or will you be purchasing specific rewards? I'm considering buying the Lucio or Pharah skins. While we're talking about Overwatch, don't forget to invite friends to this weekend's free trial, then encourage them to buy it from one of the many Overwatch specials.
