Far Cry 5 is not a Western, watch the live-action teasers - worldwide reveal this week

Buckle up, Far Cry 5 should be one awesome ride! On Friday, 26 May 2017 at 15:00 South African time, Ubisoft will reveal the next instalment of the Far Cry franchise to the world, and we couldn’t be more excited. The game has been rumoured to release this year and with a reveal this week, we should know very soon if the rumour turns out to be true.

But what will Far Cry 5 be about and where (or when) will it play off? Well, we can answer at least part of the latter question. The game will play off in Montana, United States and from live-action teasers in this article, one can see that it won’t have a Western setting as we previously speculated. The teasers only give us a small glimpse of the setting the game will take place in, the fictional “Hope County” in Montana.

Judging by the beautiful scenery from the live-action footage, I suspect players might travel to Glacier National Park at some point, a wilderness preserve that stretches all the way into Canada. You can see the snowy mountain tops and a river in the trailers, as well as a dark, violent undertone. At the time of writing, we know nothing about the story, only the setting for the game.

While we anxiously await the reveal of Far Cry 5, join us in watching the four teaser vignettes released by Ubisoft below.

What do you think about the teasers and what do you hope to see from Far Cry 5? Let us know in the comment section below.
