Rumor: Microsoft resumes development on Scalebound

Scalebound Renewed.jpg

Remember when we announced that Scalebound was cancelled and we were extremely upset about it? Well, it seems that the game could indeed be in development to this day. If you don't know, Scalebound was one of Microsoft's most anticipated titles which saw a huge delay after an expected 2017 release. The title was then apparently canned in January when Microsoft announced the news after "careful deliberation". The game was in development with Platinum Games at the helm of the title, and it featured a unique story and combat system that saw you take control of a dragon in combat.

Personally, the game was one I was looking forward to and this latest report has made me all warm and fuzzy inside. Justia, a site that tracks trademark movements like cancellations and renewals, has popped up with some new data. According to the site, the trademark to the game has just been renewed after it was cancelled in October. An insider report from a so-called "trusted" source, claims that development has indeed been resumed on the game and has been handed over to a "close" Microsoft team.

This means that Platinum Games might not be involved in the title any longer, and the game could be being made from the ground up. With E3 around the corner (hype), Microsoft could be re-announcing the game at their press conference along with the much-anticipated announcement of the Xbox Scorpio. Unlike the Xbox Scorpio, this Scalebound news has not been confirmed as of yet, so take it with a pinch of salt.
