Netflix announces Witcher TV series based on the critically acclaimed saga

If you thought the Witcher was over, as we all did, think again. Netflix today announced that they will be teaming up with the original creator of the saga Andrzej Sapkowski to bring the show to life. Sapkowski will serve as a creative consultant for the series, which is good as he makes no profit from the video game and he should be making something from the series given how awesome it is.

In a press release, Sapkowski explained that he is thrilled Netflix will be doing an adaption of the series, and he cannot wait to see the show stay true the source material and themes he spent over thirty years writing. Tomas Baginski, Director of the video games series, will direct at least one episode per season.

“The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.” Said Executive Producers Sean Daniel and Jason Brown.

Is it not clear yet if the show will be split into eights seasons like the saga, or if it will be in three seasons like the game? The saga is huge and the last game in the series The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would fit into a couple of seasons if you ask me. More will be announced in coming months.
