Report: Nintendo working on mobile Legend of Zelda title to release in 2017

Nintendo has had a great year so far. The Switch launch has been a huge success, we had Mario Kart 8 Deluxe being the best portable racer you can find, and let us not forget critically acclaimed Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Back last year Nintendo announced that they would be releasing 5 mobile games before the end of March 2017, well March came and went and we only had three. Mittomo, Super Mario Run, and Fire Emblem Heroes. While Nintendo is still short of two more games, the report of the Legend of Zelda coming to mobile makes it five, after we include the much-delayed Animal Crossing game.

The Wall Street Journal claims that The Legen of Zelda will be the last of the five games to release on mobile, of which it will see all the biggest Nintendo franchises have their own mobile game, bar that pink ball Kirby. While not much else is known about this new mobile Zelda game, we know that Nintendo will first be releasing Animal Crossing before it. Mobile developer DeNA is currently working on this unannounced Zelda title.

Nintendo also hinted at a possible "big surprise" at their annual E3 stream. The company will not be taking to stage like Sony and Microsoft to announce anything, but they will be streaming a dedicated E3-themed Direct titled the "Nintendo Spotlight". It will be here that the company will announce three new games for 2017, and while this could mean Switch games, it could also mean this mobile Zelda title.

The E3 Nintendo Spotlight takes place on 13 June at 6PM local time. You will be able to watch it on their website.

Zelda on mobile, would this be something you would play? Let us know in the comments below.
