Orena launches R1.7 million SA Champions Series

I think we can agree that South African eSports breached that R1 million eSports tournament mark this year. We're not even half-way through the year, and we're announcing the third tournament that hit that "impossible" number of a R1 million prize pool. In February, Telkom Gaming announced their R1.5 million Masters Series, and last weekend MettleState had the finals of their R1 million Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament (it was a spectacular event, read more: The Samsung Galaxy CS:GO Championship was the esports competition SA needed.) Then Kwêse announced their R2 million Africa tournament, and yesterday, Orena annnounced their R1.7 million initiative.

Welcome to the Orena Champions Series (OCS)

“Last year’s OCS tournament delivered some fantastic competition, with fans tuning in from afar to compete and experience the action, live,” says Luca Tucconi, Operations Executive at Orena. “This year’s event is set to be exponentially bigger, better and richer and will deliver the ultimate in esports experiences for the teams and the fans. We have big plans for the OCS, as evidenced by the quantum leap between last year’s tournament and the 2017 edition, and we’re looking forward to giving the country’s best teams a chance to compete in a world-class setting”.
