The Pokémon craze isn’t stopping anytime soon, and it might just get even bigger (yes, it is possible) if a new title in the franchise gets released on the Nintendo Switch.
The Pokémon game developer, Game Freak, is hiring, and it might just be for the next game in the franchise. According to a job advert, it explains that the work will have to do with creating “cartoon-like super deformed characters, monsters and item models.”
The advert as translated by Siliconera and corroborated with IGN’s translation, reveals the following information for those who want to apply for the job of 3D CG designer on Game Freak’s unannounced title.
- “We’ll have you work on the production an RPG game that is popular on a global scale.
- Platform will be console.
- It’s a title that just about anyone knows, a proposal that could be your future career.”
Since Game Freak has developed several Pokémon titles and, there is an extremely good chance that an RPG game “popular on a global scale” is in fact Pokémon related. Another job ad shows that the developer is hiring character modelers for a new title. According to the translation by Siliconera, those who apply for the job needs to have “experience working on models at the level of Wii U and PS Vita. “
Yes, the Switch isn’t specifically mentioned, but as IGN points out, Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara confirmed that they will be developing games for the Nintendo Switch all the way back in September 2016. At the time of writing nothing has been confirmed, so please take this rumour with a grain of salt until such time as the new game is revealed.
Both the job contracts expire in May 2018, so there is a very good chance the game will release sometime early next year.
