If you were looking forward to playing with your new PlayStation VR on 24 January, you will have to wait a little longer for that experience. The PSVR has been delayed in SA. Originally set for a 24 January release date, the headset has now been pushed back to 31 January.
We heard about this news when we contacted Ster Kinekor about arranging a loan unit for us to play with before release. We have some cool planned content n the device we cannot wait to share with you. In a mail back from Ster Kinekor, they confirmed that the new date for the headset has been confirmed for 31 January 2017.
While this delay is only a week, it does affect my plan to play Resident Evil VII: Biohazard on PS VR, as the game releases on the original release date, 24 January 2017. For some however, it means the headset will be available come payday, so it might push some gamers to consider buying it on launch day. If you have not pre-ordered a set yet and plan on getting it, I highly recommend you do so as soon as possible.
The mail from Ster Kinekor to me hints at a possible stock shortage, as they stress that I needed to pre-order as fast as I could. Check "PlayStation VR South African launch games lineup" for more information about local retailers.
