Nintendo revealed their next console, the Nintendo Switch, in October last year. From the reveal trailer, the Nintendo Switch looks innovative and remarkable, but hardware and design is just part of what makes a console great, the other part of course being the games you will be able to play on it. So far, Nintendo hasn't revealed anything concrete about the console's launch lineup, only showing off some games being played on the Switch during the reveal trailer. Now, a new leak might have just spilled the beans before Nintendo can reveal the games and the Switch’s launch date a bit later this week.
A Reddit user called bonzei claims that he or she is from a GameStop in Germany and got to see a list of launch titles for the Nintendo Switch, as well as a release date of 19 March 2017 for the console and has shared a photo of the supposed list.
Remember to always take rumours with a large helping of salt until such time as Nintendo officially reveals their launch game lineup. With that in mind, you can view the list below.
- Dragon Quest X
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Monster Hunter
- Mario Kart 8
- The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
- Lego City Undercover
- Just Dance 2017
The list (which you can view below) doesn’t go into detail on the titles, for example, we can’t be sure if Sonic and Mario are new games or maybe even remasters of old titles. One can assume that NBA is the latest in the franchise, namely NBA 2K17, but nothing has been confirmed. Further, there are also five “placeholder” names, which is anyone’s guess what games they will turn out to be. Then, there is also a “Project Sonic 2017” right at the bottom, which points towards a new, unannounced Sonic title set to release on 12 November 2017.
Nintendo will reveal more about the Switch at an event in Tokyo on 13 January at 06:00am SA time and in New York during a press event on 13 January at 16:30pm SA time. The show will be streamed live on the Switch’s official website, YouTube and Twitch.tv, so we will hopefully know soon enough if the leaked information is accurate.
Do you think the leak is legitimate and if so, what do you think about the Switch’s launch day titles? Let us know in the comment section below.
