First look at Battlefield 1: Giant’s Shadow

Yesterday, we posted news about a possible Battlefield 1 leak which details the upcoming December patch. According to the leak, the update will roll out next week Tuesday, and as we already know, it will include the new map, Giant's Shadow. A few hours ago, EA DICE released the first trailer, as well as game details for Giant's Shadow. It seems the leak turned out to be true after all, as most of the details are now confirmed.

Battlefield 1 - Giant's Shadow

"Battle of the Selle, 1918. British forces have broken through the Hindenburg line and are heading towards a strategic railway center. The outcome is uncertain. An armored train can still turn the tide. With a massive crashed airship casting its shadow onto the battlefield, Giant’s Shadow brings fierce combat on the open ground and river banks alongside the Cateau-Wassigny railway."

  • Release date for premium & pre-order customers: Tuesday, 13 December
  • Release date for all players: Tuesday, 20 December
  • Free update
  • New weapon: The Grenade Crossbow unlocks for support classes.
  • Grenade Crossbow: Silent weapon, fires two grenades
  • Grenade Crossbow ammo: Choice of two grenades; Fragmentation or High Explosive
  • Map: From War Stories "Through Mud & Blood" which was about the tank driver. Looks like that final battle at the end of the campaign.
  • Massive artillery guns
  • Armored train for losing side
  • Includes planes and will probably include heavy tank warfare as well

What's exciting about the Giant's Shadow news is that we can assume the rest of the details from yesterday's leak is also correct. Which means, a snow map and lots more are in the works.
