November 2016 Game Releases: The OMG Edition

2016 is drawing to a close, and what a year it's been for new game releases! More about that in a later article, as today's highlight is the OMG releases of November 2016.

Will Infinite Warfare's space trip end in disaster or triumph? Will Watch Dogs 2 hack it's way back in favour and succeed where its predecessor failed? Will Final Fantasy XV be everything fans are expecting, and OMG will the PlayStation 4 Pro deliver true 4K gaming? Here's everything you need to know if you want to unlock those answers.

But first, our top four most anticipated games of November 2016 - we reserved the number 5 spot for the NES Classic Edition and PS4 Pro releases.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

Release date: 4/11 WW

Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

Genre: First-person shooter

Modes: Single-player & multiplayer

Age restriction: TBA

gMz summary: Battlefield 1 achieved the unthinkable - equally strong single-player and multiplayer experiences. Infinity Ward has promised the same quality experience, and more, for Infinite Warfare. For the first time in the COD universe players will to take on space and the nuances that accompany it. You will command the 20-man crew Retribution which is your mission control, and pilot the Jackal (available in PS4VR) which can be used to take on Settlement Defense Front capital ships.

Every vehicle in Infinite Warfare enhances the gameplay experience; it's not about jumping into a different model, but about an entirely different design and function. Infinity Ward also wanted to do something new with weapons, for example, energy weapons can alter your gameplay; you can be assault one moment and switch to sniping next. There is also the Combat Rig system that offers six distinct play styles.

Lastly, if you're going to play the Legacy or Digital Deluxe Editions, then you also get access to Modern Warfare Remastered. You'll get play the full campaign and 10 multiplayer maps from arguably one of the best Call of Duty games to date.

gMz highlights: Arkane Studios took a game that fans already loved, and pushed things up a notch by adding a second playable character to Dishonored 2. Emily, is of course, also a female character, and will add a unique flavor to the game. It will be interesting to see the different abilities and play style of Corvo and Emily. Watch Dogs 2

Genre: Action-adventure, third-person shooter

Modes: Single-player & multiplayer

Age restriction: M for Mature 17 +

Rated for:  Blood, Intense Violence, Nudity, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Use of Drugs

gMz summary: Ubisoft astounded the gaming world when they announced Watch_Dogs in June 2012. The proverbial carrot on the stick was things like "you'll be hacked while playing," and "everyone is connected.” However, the open-world hackathon didn’t deliver as expected, and with WD2 Ubisoft once again gets the chance to impress. This time we have a black protagonist and the story plays off in the birthplace of tech. Another change is that the protagonist has a group of hackers who join the fight, we have driving, and a bigger arsenal of hacking tools and weapons.

Final Fantasy XV

Release date: 29/11 WW

Platforms: PS4, Xbox One

Genre: Action role-playing game

Mode: Single-player

Age restriction: T for Teen

Rated for: Language, Mild Blood, Partial Nudity, Violence

gMz summary: It has been 10 years since the original spin-off to Final Fantasy XII was unveiled as Final Fantasy Versus XII. Square Enix is doing everything differently with Final Fantasy XV, as the game’s new open world takes players across Eos in a brand-new engine built from the ground up. What we have seen of the game, has brought tears to our eyes with its breath-taking world, loveable new characters, and true Final Fantasy themes. With a soundtrack backed by none other than Florence + The Machine, and composed by the highly acclaimed Yoko Shinomura, we know the goosebumps will ensure, as we play through the biggest Final Fantasy ever built.

Final Fantasy XV will also be receiving "non-MMO" online DLC for the game after launch. The DLC will be split into four packs, of which you will control Noctis' friends individually. Gladiolis, Ignis, and Prompto will see their own story arcs in three of the four DLC packs. The final DLC pack will act as a four player co-op story mode.

The Walking Dead Season 3: A New Frontier

Release date: November 2016 TBA

Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One, iOS, Android

Genre: Interactive story

Mode: Single-player

Age restriction: TBA

gMz summary: In season three Clem is no longer a child that needs protection, but a veteran of this war. If you're new to the series, then you don't even have to play Season one or two, you can jump right in at season three. Telltale uses a new character, AJ (the son of Rebecca from Season Two), to bring newcomers up to speed with the story of The Walking Dead. However, I highly recommend you play the previous seasons, it was without a doubt, one of my most memorable gaming experiences.

For those who have been playing all the seasons, Telltale promises "a story that's uniquely tailored to the diverging paths they've taken in the past." In season three you'll play as two characters; Clementine and Javier - although it seems at different time frames.
