First South African prices for the AMD RX 480 revealed Built upon Polaris architecture and 14nm FinFET, the AMD RX 480 promises to deliver a great Virtual Reality (VR) and AAA gaming experience for the mainstream market. When the GPU was first announced, I mentioned that the RX 480 delivers mind-blowing price / performance according to AMD’s claims and its $199 price point.

However, the local pricing for the RX 480 has remained a mystery until now, so local consumers couldn’t tell for certain if the GPU is worth picking up. Here are the first South African prices for the RX 480.


Wootware is the first  local retailer (by mere seconds) to announce its price for the RX 480 and is also the cheapest so far.

We will update this article when pricing from more local retailers become available. The first reviews for the RX 480 are starting to come in and it looks like the card is roughly the same performance of the GTX 970 or R9 390.
