The Mall Gaming Experience Is Coming - A First For South Africa

sa gaming.jpg

nAv TV, South Africa's premium eSports broadcaster, has announced the Mall Gaming Experience (MGE) to provide the “ultimate gaming experience” for those who attend. The MGE will span across three malls in Gauteng from 10 May to 10 July 2016 and feature games for attendees to play, a cosplay competition, a Dota 2 tournament with an estimated prize pool of R150,000 and “more”. You might remember that nAvTV did a "test run" in April at the Mall of the South in Southern Johannesburg. Together with the madeyoulook team we provided extensive coverage of that event, check it out:

Before you read all the details including event dates, sponsors and competitions, we have some additional information to share via a quick chat with nAv TV.

A quick chat with nAv TV

We caught up with nAv TV’s co-founder and Dota 2 shoutcaster DeWet "RidditZ" Lombard-Bovey to ask him a couple of questions about the MGE.

Will there be any on-the-spot giveaways to visitors or special deals from partners?
“There are plans to have giveaways at the events itself. I can’t confirm what they will be just yet though.”

Are there any plans for the Mall Gaming Experience to become an annual event?
“This event is a first of its kind, and we will hopefully be able to do more of these in the future”

Although the prize pool for the Dota 2 tournament is already huge, Mr. Lombard-Bovey did state that nAv TV “are looking to boost that even more (maybe).” The possibility for giveaways at the events is excellent news for potential attendees and the possibility of an increase to the already huge prize pool sounds fantastic. Hopefully, the MGE will become an annual event.
