*END OF UPDATE*

On Friday the 13th of May, we will be revealing a real hero of the high-end PC market when the MSI Vortex is shown off and officially launched at the MWEB Mcave. And what better way to celebrate this by showcasing it on an iconic and celebrated title such as DOOM? We don’t like to keep this kind of cool stuff just ourselves and to the media, so we would like to invite 30 of our supporters to join us and see the beast in action.

Alongside MSI’s centrepiece for the night, we will be running the game release of the day, DOOM, to keep attendees entertained, and we are expecting plenty of jump-scares to go along with all of it.

To showcase the spectacular capabilities of the MSI Vortex, it will be powering a six screen matrix while DOOM will be playable on additional MSI machines throughout the night. Yes, we will be testing your multiplayer skills, your ability not to scream in fear during the campaign, and watching stomach’s turn with the glorious gruesome violence of it all.

The Hero

The MSI Vortex is no bigger than a gaming console, but its computing power is far beyond that of the current crop of consoles. The big brother of the series features an Intel i7 Skylake, DDR4 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX980 SLI GPUs, USB3.1 Type-C interface and all the other features needed to ensure your gaming experience in both 4K and VR is unsurpassed.

And if that’s not enough, the Vortex just looks cool, but it looks cool for a reason. The shape and design aid a “revolutionary cooling” design which draws in cool air at the base and forces out the warm air through the top vents via a cyclone system – making the Vortex cool and cooler.

If a Friday the 13th launch event does not send some chills down your spine, watching the video of this beast might do the trick:

Of course, you will win things

No launch event would be complete without the usual selection of prizes and this time, will be no different. We might just offer a prize to the person that screams loudest (if our ears can handle it of course), but you will need to be in attendance to find out what we will be giving away on the night. So get your entry in as laid out below, and you can be sure to have an experience like no other.

Given that it is DOOM and also a Friday the 13th, Brad Kirby has promised a special prize to the guest wearing attire that most suits the date and event.

Bag your Golden Ticket

There are 30 golden tickets up for grabs, and if you are in Cape Town on Friday 13 May, are over 18 and can be at the MWEB GameZone headquarters in Parow from 6 pm, you can get yourself into the random draw which will decide who joins us on the night.
