These are Your April 2016 SA Gaming Events

April is considered the fool’s month (well, at least one of its days is) but you would only be a fool if you don’t support the activities being put together around the country. The month sees the start of the MGMS qualifying tournaments with Call of Duty Black Ops 3 in April – details coming soon for those keen for more console competitive action. An ongoing event that continues through a part of the month is the Crucial Cup while the following events are happening around the country for your enjoyment.

April will also be the first month that the MWEB GameZone team takes the reigns without Desmond 'bosbvok Kurz. May the force remain strong with us ;).

Gamer’s Fest

  • Info: With R200,000 in prizes up for grabs, this might be the biggest LAN event of the month. Three tournaments (CS: GO, Dota 2 and FIFA 16), along with a 400-seater LAN, and general gaming activities make this an interesting event one to attend – even though it’s pretty short notice.
  • Date: 1 to 3 April 2016
  • Time: 9:00am to 12:00pm for players | 9:00am to 6:00pm for spectators
  • Where: Mall of the South, Cnr Swartkoppies Road and Klipriver Drive, Aspen Hills, Gauteng

Cold Fusion LAN

  • Info: Cold Fusion returns with their April edition LAN event in Kempton Park. Prizes are promised all weekend and there will be tournaments for Dota 2, Flat Out 2 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.
  • Date: 1 to 3 April 2016
  • Time: 6:00pm on Friday to 9:00am on Sunday

  • Info: The crew of GAC are back again with another LAN event for Cape Town. The event will feature a gigabit connection with tournaments to be confirmed still, but Quake Live is on the agenda.
  • Date: 8 to 10 April 2016
  • Time: 5:00pm on Friday to 8:00am on Sunday
  • Where: Abe Sher Stadium, De Boerin Street, Bothasig, Western Cape

Games On FIFA 16 Tournament

  • Info: FIFA 16 returns to Games On Gaming Lounge with a tournament on Saturday 9 April. The event will be a single elimination event with a cash prize pool and drinks sponsored for competitors by Coca Cola and PowerPlay. Players can pre-register for the event here.

Halo 5 2v2 Tournament

  • Info: The Halo community of South Africa is doing it for themselves with an online Halo 5 2v2 tournament. Up for grabs will be a total of R2,000 in cash which has been donated by two players from the South African community.

WLU League Tavern Hero Qualifier

  • Info: Weekly Level Up is kicking off their new WLU League with a Hearthstone tournament in Cape Town. Up for grabs is a total of over R3,000 in cash to be shared between the top three placed players. Alongside the tournament will be a bootcamp with Dale ‘Pand3m0nia’ Pon from 10:30am.

  • Info: The Cape Town Showdown crew are the tournament hosts of a Street Fighter V tournament at the Mcave in Cape Town. There is no entry fee for the tournament, but numbers are restricted. The tournament will be a double elimination bracket.
