The results from the MSSA Online Schools Championships

The 6th annual Online Schools Championships were hosted on 20 February by Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA). The championships encompassed private and public schools from seven provinces who are affiliated with the MSSA (a number which according to the press release is increasing every year). For this online championship, players and teams could participate in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, FIFA 16, HearthStone, League of Legends, StarCraft II, and Tekken Tag Tournament II.

Of the schools participating, Northcliff High School secured a large proportion of the top spots, with Cape Town’s Rondebosch Boys took first place for Counter-Strike. Maritzburg College secured the Dota 2 championship and HTS Witbank won both the male and female FIFA 16 titles. Sasolburg High School walked off winners of League of Legends, while the representative from Bishops secured the win in StarCraft II. Northcliff High School won both HearthStone and Tekken and placed in a number of other titles.

Some of the players and teams from the online schools tournament will now qualify to compete in the National Team Trials which will be held on 4 June 2016.
