Spoil yourself with these PlayStation specials this Christmas

South African distributor of all things PlayStation, Ster Kinekor, has announced a Christmas special for the PlayStation 4.

The special will run from now until close of trade on 24 December at selected stores and sees the ‘PlayStation 4 Christmas Campaign’ discount any PlayStation 4 console by R500 and chuck in a game for free.

The R500 saving counts across all standalone and bundled PlayStation 4s and is available via the following stores (as listed by the press release, but others appear to have similar discounts too):

We would suggest checking with your preferred retailer as to which games will qualify for the special, as the “deals vary per retailer”.

Walk this way

While those deals are all well and good, how about we go a step further and save you even more time and money. A quick look at the various retailers around South Africa reveals that if you’re in the market for a 1TB PlayStation 4 standalone, Game4U has the best price at R5,299 (which is actually R700 below the recommended retail price of R5,999).

If you’re looking for a console with more than one game at Christmas time, then Makro has a 1TB bundle with Minecraft, PES 2016 and Ride for R5,999. While that’s great for the slightly younger players, those looking for a bundle with slightly more violent options, Makro has two additional bundles for R6,499 featuring a 1TB PS4 with three games each from games such as Black Ops 3, Aliens, Shadow of Mordor and Star Wars Battlefront.

If you’re keen to rather pick up an additional controller to go with your console and a game, then the BT Games offering of a 1TB PS4 with two DualShock 4 controllers and a game (from Batman, Arkham Knight, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Mad Max, Metal Gear Solid V, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Star Wars Battlefront and Black Ops 3) for R6,499 is the best option for you.

Don’t stop there

Of course, there’s always the small matter of needing some games to play on your spanking new console (or the one you already own for that matter), and in 2015 there were plenty of great titles to enjoy, and you would really be spiting yourself if you haven’t played at least some of the titles listed below. Call them the ‘must-have’ PlayStation 4 (because, this is a PlayStation 4 article of course) titles of 2015, but if you want one of them, hit the link and be whisked off to the cheapest available option we could find in our trawling of the South African internet.

Finally, if you’re looking for a new DualShock 4 controller or the PlayStation Camera then both are available via Loot for the lowest price. If you’re also keen to give your console a personal touch, the Custom Faceplates are now available, with Raru offering them at the lowest price of R259 (with the silver being R1 cheaper still).

To get the most out of your PS4 console and games, you will need PS Plus, and the best deal on that at the moment is via Takealot who have a year’s subscription for R718.

So that’s the very best deals for PlayStation 4 in the country right now, but we’re pretty willing to bet you still feel like you may need to sell surplus organs to really pick up all these tasty options. If you find out where to do that – or if you see some deals we may have missed – hit us up in the comments below.
