Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) has officially revealed that
airdrops will be part of H1Z1 during the SOE Live in Vegas this weekend, which
will undoubtedly cause tons of chaos between survivors when the game goes live.
Key art for H1Z1 has also been released which you can download as a
wallpaper for both PC and Mobile devices, spreading the H1Z1 virus and some
love for the zombie survival game. SOE claims that the longer you look, the
more you will discover, so check out the image above and see what details about
H1Z1 you can find.
H1Z1 Airdrop Reveal
A video has been released this weekend during the SOE Live
in Vegas, which shows off the first footage of the airdrop feature that SOE
have implemented into H1Z1. The feature will surely create chaos between
survivors scavenging for scarce supplies in the wastelands of H1Z1.
Three separate survivors in the proximity of the box ascend
on the landing site with haste, as being the one to open the box will surely
get some much needed supplies. A bloodbath ensues, as axes are wielded with
precision and arrows hit their targets, creating a Player versus Player (PvP)
battle over the mysterious box.
SOE has not detailed what exactly is inside one of these
boxes or how frequently drops will occur. However, one can assume there is
food, water, ammunition and a wealth of other supplies in the boxes to help a
player survive just a little bit longer in the wasteland of H1Z1.
Hopefully the airdrops will be on random times and
locations, as one thing I am sure SOE does not want is relentless camping on a
timed spot by well geared players.
H1Z1 coming to the PS4 and Survival
challenge shows two hours of fresh footage
SOE has stated multiple times that they are planning to bring H1Z1 to the
PlayStation 4 (PS4) yet it has never been confirmed. This weekend the President
of SOE, John Smedley, confirmed that H1Z1 will indeed be coming to the PS4
after the release of the PC version.
Along with this announcement, they also held a Survival Challenge for
attendees, showing off two hours of fresh gameplay footage which streamers
sometimes hilarious reactions, which can be seen below.
H1Z1 is set to be released before the end of
2014, yet judging from the gameplay videos above the game is already more than
ready to go onto Steam Early Access.
Game designer Adam Clegg spoke to International Business
Times regarding Early Access: “We’re
going to make sure our alpha is super polished. We could go Early Access on
Steam tomorrow, but we wouldn’t be proud of it, and it wouldn’t be something
we’d want to showcase to the players, we don’t want things you have to hurdle
over in order to play the game.” - Source
This is great news for fans of the game, as it shows the
developers do not just want to go for a quick cash-grab. Passion surrounding
their product and wanting to release a game they can truly be proud of makes me
think H1Z1 will be the best zombie survival game when it is finally released.
Since the reveal
of H1Z1 on 10 April 2014, the game has made a ton of progress and as a fan of
everything zombie, I simply can not wait to try it out for myself as soon as it
goes onto Steam Early Access. Airdrops, if done correctly, are a great way to
instill chaos into the harsh wastelands of the zombie apocalypse and with a
passionate development team I am sure they will steer clear of pitfalls
associated with the system such as fixed spawn points and times.
Will you be playing H1Z1 on the PS4 or PC? What do you think
about the airdrops feature in H1Z1? Did you enjoy the two hours of fresh gameplay footage? How
do you think H1Z1 will do against established zombie survival games such as
DayZ and Rust? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
