The "SA's Top 5 PC games sold in 2013" revealed a lot of unexpected results, in fact, all but one game, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, was a surprise. We saw that local PC gamers fancied playing Sims more than any other game and that they refuse to answer the Call of Duty. The SA's Top 5 PlayStation Games Sold in 2013 showed that all PlayStation customers favors FIFA, and I mean all of them. From the new PlayStation 4, to the PS3, PS2, PS Vita and even the PS Slim, everyone wants them some FIFA. That brings us to SA"s Xbox 360 customers, what did they buy most in 2013? Do the Xbox gamers mirror the taste of their PlayStation counterparts?
Once again we turn to GfK for the numbers. GfK is one of the world's largest research companies, provided us with South Africa's top five Xbox 360 games sold in 2013. The stats were drawn from January 2013 - December 2013.
No 1 selling Xbox 360 game for 2013 - Grand Theft Auto V
As we saw with PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 customers also bought Grand Theft Auto V more than any other game released in 2013. What you probably don't know is that according to a report on Gamepur, "GTA V sold 17.4 million copies on PlayStation 3 alone, and 15 million units on Xbox 360, thereby also taking the crown of best selling games on PS3 and Xbox 360. In addition to this, GTA V also became the highest rated game of 2013, with an average score of 9.7."
A massive 2.5 million units difference between the two consoles! Way to go PlayStation! Don't be known as the gamer who didn't play GTA V, order it from kalahari.com HERE. There's also a special Xbox 360 GTA V which you can find here.
No 2 selling Xbox 360 game for 2013 - FIFA 14
FIFA 14 comes in at no 2, again, same as for the PlayStation 3. The fact that it beat the seemingly more popular first-person shooter giants, Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 says a lot. We would love to hear more from the local FIFA community, the roar of the FPS communities can sometimes be a 'lil too much ;)

No 3 selling Xbox 360 game for 2013 - Call of Duty: Ghosts
So some industry people went as far as to predict that “Call of Duty: Ghosts has been tipped to beat GTA 5 to the top of the gaming charts" They were wrong, very wrong. Not only did Ghosts fail to even come close to the spectacular 7 record breaking streak of GTA V, but it also caused the Call of Duty franchise to be dethroned from its position as the fastest selling game in 24 hours. The position was held by Call of Duty: Black Ops II. GTAV sold more than $800 million dollars in sales on its release day, (translates into about 13 million copies of the game) vs Call of Duty: Black Ops II which sold $500 million in it's first 24 hours.
It's never too late to answer the Call of Duty, order Ghosts for Xbox 360 from kalahari.com here, and the Hardened Edition here.
No 4 selling Xbox 360 game for 2013 - Forza Motorsport 4
At no 4 we see the first change between the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 - at no 4 PS3 had Black Ops II. This shows that console specific titles do in fact play a role, especially for Xbox customers. It's interesting that PlayStation didn't even have the PlayStation 4 exclusive, Killzone: Shadow Fall as its no 1 selling game, FIFA 14 took it. Extremely unfortunate, madly disappointing and insanely frustrating for Xbox gamers, we don't even know how long you have to wait before you can play Forza Motorsport 5 on your Xbox One. We can only tease you so long with this:
No 5 selling Xbox 360 game for 2013 - Call of Duty: Black Ops II
As with PlayStation, no Battlefield 4 in sight for the top 5 selling games for 2013 in SA, instead we have two games from the Call of Duty franchise. Where Ghosts mostly disappointment gamers, Black Ops II delivered one of the most fulfilling FPS experiences in gaming. It comes as no surprise that Activision announced earlier today that the Call of Duty development cycle has moved from 2 years to 3 years, with Sledgehammer Games at the helm of the next game. Sledgehammer was involved in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Longing back to the good old Call of Duty days? Order Black Ops II for Xbox 360 from kalahari.com here.
