by Zubayr Bhyat (plut)  Posted Wednesday, July 03, 2013 7:49:00 AM

Ubisoft's Uplay system has been hacked. Usernames, email addresses and encrypted passwords were stolen when privileged credentials were stolen and misused. Users have been asked to create new passwords in responce to the intrusion. This comes in the face of a security flaw on the Uplay system that allowed any malicious sites to take control of users' computers.

No credit card or payment information was exposed due to financial information not being stored at Ubisoft. Users can use the following link to reset their password. According to Ubisoft, this intrusion is not related to any previous security incidents. The Uplay and other game online services systems were not affected.

A forum post for anyone to pose questions to the company was given but was not accessible at the time. For those looking for further updates Follow Ubisoft's Twitter page.
