Microsoft may lower price of Xbox One

More Xbone goodness \:D/

Microsoft is still on the charm offensive towards potential Xbox One purchasers. Yesterday, they changed their ‘always online’ and used-game policies. Today, a Wedbush analyst by the name of Micheal Pachter states that Microsoft is prepared to lower the retail price of the Xbox One – albeit a year or so after its official launch.

Micheal Pachter.

At present, the Xbox One is set to retail for $499; with the PlayStation 4 to go at $399; however Pachter feels that the Xbox One package offers better value for money as it comes with a semifree Kinect (which may be watching you – so be skeptical please):

"...the focus will shift from Microsoft's onerous policies to the price differential between the Xbox One (at $499) and the PS4 (at $399). The differential is due to the inclusion of Kinect (a high definition camera with a microphone array) with every Xbox One; Microsoft intends to offer a more robust hardware bundle than Sony will offer, and Microsoft is convinced that consumers will ultimately appreciate the value proposition presented by Kinect... Microsoft has not done a particularly good job of communicating the value proposition to consumers, but today's announcement will remove an impediment to the company's ability to get its message across."

Pachter also feels that the Xbox One will more than likely sell just as many units as the PS4 after Microsoft’s 360-turn yesterday regarding their "whinily-received" Digital Rights Management policies:

"We are confident that with six months of focused messaging, Microsoft can fully level the playing field with Sony, and we expect the Xbox One to sell as many units as the PS4. If we are wrong, we think that Microsoft is prepared to lower price next year."

In all honesty, I think that it’s Sony’s kindness towards their potential consumers that instigated all of this generosity on the part of the Microsoft corporation; but autonomous feels or not, I am still glad to hear that there may come a point in time where I might be able to afford an Xbone (totes an Xbox fanboy, soz).
