If you spent way, way too much time at H. Gaffoors corner shop, like I did, then the following news will be cheered in the streets. For their 30th anniversary, Capcom is releasing a new app for the PS3 and Xbox 360 that contains a sizable line-up of their retro titles called the Capcom Arcade Cabinet.

Starting on the 19th February and ending on 21st May, Capcom will release a total of 15 arcade titles that originally debuted between 1984 and 1988. The titles will be available to purchase as five Game Packs (Game Pack 1 is 400 MP, all others 800 MP) with staggered released dates, but can also be bought individually for 320 MP. At the end of the promotion interested parties will be able to buy the entire collection as one huge bundle for 2000 MP. For those that take the plunge and purchase the whole kaboodle of 15 games, there'll be a bonus of two extra games, though what they are has yet to be announced.

Purchasing any one of the games allows access to the Capcom Arcade Cabinet app, which gives gamers special options and bonus features for their games. Gamers will be able to adjust the number of lives and difficulty, play two-player online play, access global leaderboards and have a choice between the Japanese or international versions of their games. And I'm just speculating here, but I would guess the app will also give access to future Capcom arcade releases (Holding thumbs for Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom and The Punisher).

Additionally, PS3 users will be able to post video replays onto YouTube, while Xbox 360 users will be able to upload screenshots to Facebook. Here's hoping this fantastic piece of Retro-awesome gets a South African release as well.
