At the end of October last year, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter called Medal of Honor: Warfighter shoddy sales and critical performance "fatal" predicting that it would be the last game in the franchise. It seems Pachter got it dead right as EA's Chief Operating Officer Peter Moore confirmed in a recent investor conference call that the company would be dropping the franchise from its development roster.

"We struggled with two challenges: the slowdown that impacted the entire sector and poor critical and commercial reception for Medal of Honor: Warfighter," he said. "Medal of Honor was an obvious miss. The game was solid, but the focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers."

"Critics were polarized and gave the game scores which were, frankly, lower than it deserved," he added.

In early November of last year EA Labels President Frank Gibeau, said much the same thing about the game, insisting that the negative critical reception was unjustified and that their own internal testing proved the game was good. Medal of Honor: Warfighter  received low to middling review scores measuring a 55 on Metacritic.

Regardless of what the issues were with Medal of Honor: Warfighter, EA is done with the franchise. "This one is behind us now," Moore said definitively. "We are taking Medal of Honor out of the rotation, and have a plan to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings."
