This particular Band of Brothers is a recently formed clan of PC
gamers who number closer to a horde than a mere band. ‘SlickSky’ gives
us a little more insight into the clan.
When did Band of Brothers form? And were you inspired to name the clan after the mini-series?
We started B.O.B on 08/04/2012. We got a big
amount of inspiration from the miniseries and found us in the same
environment in the gaming community, a group of gamers that come to
together on the battlefield and supports one a another not only in the
game but in real life as well.
How many members were you back then and what was the game of choice?
We started off with 20 members and the game choice was Battlefield Bad Company 2.
How many members are you at now, and what is the current game of choice?
We are 50 Active members now and we stick with the Battlefield range. We are now currently playing Battlefield 3.
What makes the Battlefield series the clan’s game of choice?
Battlefield is the type of online game where you
need your buddy and your buddy needs you. The whole setup around it is.
It is all about teamwork and support and that fits in with our B.O.B
Slogan: “We few, we happy few, we band of brothers for he today that
shed his blood with me shall be my brother.”
How is the clan structured to manage the members?
1. Colonel – Owner
2. Lt. Colonel: – Head Admin
3. Major – Admin Captain
4. First Lieutenant
5. Second Lieutenant
6. Private First Class (Jerks)
What tournaments have you played in previously? Won any?
We haven’t played in any tournaments yet, we are
entering in the DGL 2013 League. We have played in many clannies, out of
15 matches we only lost 5.
Is attending LANs important to the clan and its members? Any that are your favourites?
Yes we do attending LANs. We mostly go to OC (organised Chaos – www.oc.co.za) in Cape Town.
How often do you play and practice together as a team?
Once a week we are practicing for the DGL and we got a full team that is going to take part in the Do gaming league 2013.
Do you consider yourselves a “serious competitive clan” or one more in it for “the fun of it”?
We consider ourselves a serious competitive clan,
we have a couple of players in our clan that just play for fun and we
embrace it.
Are you guys actively recruiting for new players? If so, how
should a potential member contact you and how do you decide on who is
right to join you?
We are recruiting at this moment. New ‘Recruits’
can contact me on our Teamspeak 3 channel, via email and/or on
Battlefield 3 Platoon on Battlelog.
What are you hoping to achieve in the future as a clan?
To make our clan a icon in the gaming community a gateway to gaming into South Africa.
In regards to professional – or competitive gaming – what do
you as a clan think needs to be done to raise the profile of South
African gaming?
To get more and more businesses involved in the gaming community in South Africa.
Which clan you respect the most…
We respect PewPew for helping us out when we just started in BF3 with the clan. They helped us out in our clan practices.
Boring stuff over…
If you weren’t a gaming clan you’d be…
We would have still been ‘owning’ BFBC2.
Who would be the clan’s mascot and why?
Bulldog – Shows off discipline.
War movie that best describes the clan?
The series Band Of Brothers.
Thanks for your time – is there anything you would like to add before heading back to the battlefield?
