Welcome everyone to week 3 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Tips & Tricks. If you’re an ill-disciplined soldier that missed our first three tips regarding Smg's, Assault Rifles and Shotguns, then we will supply you with covering fire whilst you click on the links to get yourself up to par with the rest of the soldiers. This week it’s time to remove those knee pads and elbow guards because it’s time to throw on your gillie suit; we are talking about sniper rifles.
Sniper rifles have had some tweaks made to them in comparison to Modern Warfare 3. These tweaks vary from the amount of attachments available to the scoping-in time of your sniper of choice. Snipers can also play a huge role in public and competitive play, as there are enough maps with distanced choke points to support long shot game play. Whether in public matches or competitive, you will need to have the right rifle in your hands to inflict the most damage possible on your opponents.
This week we will be splitting the sniper rifles into two categories; Semi-Automatic and Bolt Action.
Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifles
The XPR-50 is the most powerful sniper rifle out of the semi-automatic class. This power translates to the rifle having a one shot one kill capacity waist of the opponent. One of the biggest advantages of the XPR-50 is that you can fire multiple shot rapidly, this allows you to take down groups of opponents quickly. However, one of the downfalls of the XPR-50 is the high recoil of the rifle, which will mean that you will need to get your timing down to a 'T'. The XPR is best used when aiming-down-scope (ADS), as opposed to quick scoping, so you are going to want to add a Ballistics-CPU as an attachment to this rifle to get the most out of it.

The SVU-AS is the rifle with the least damage out of all the sniper rifles. This means that it will take a undaunted two shot to kill the opposition, unless you get a headshot which is one shot. However, the SVU is not a throw away weapon by any means. The rifle has the highest fire rate and the lowest recoil and can be used very effectively should you play with it correctly. One of my first suggestions is to remove the sniper scope by adding an ACOG scope. This will reduce you scope time thus allowing you to reduce your ADS time, it will also allow you to see more of the battlefield. Use this weapon rather as a single fire assault rifle and dominate mid-long range battles. Another key factor is that cover will be your best friend when using this weapon, because close range battles are not your strong point.

Bolt-Action Sniper Rifles
The DSR 50 is the strongest rifle out of the entire sniper class. Bolt-Action sniper rifles have always been the quick scopers best friend, and the DSR 50 doesn't disappoint, as it allows for quick-scoping but requires a bit of a learning curve. The DSR has a slower scope time than its bolt-action, but mastering the DSR is more rewarding due to the fact that there will be less occasions where you scream,"OMG HITMARKER!!!!" as shots from the waist up are one shot kills. This sniper will be best used with fast mags due to its huge reload time.

The ballista is one of the most interesting and unique sniper rifles to hit the Call of Duty series. The Ballista is unique in two ways: firstly the ballista can completely remove the scope to use only iron sites, second it is the fastest weapon to scope-in to ADS. This means that quick-scoping with this weapon is much quicker and thus more effective, should your accuracy be on point. Due to the fact that the Ballista requires the user to hit the torso or above to get a one shot kill.
