Seeing this all over
various gaming sites, and as it’s been updated on
Kickstarter,
Star Citizen has seemingly broken all records for crowd-funding a game with more than USD $6 million. That funding combines what was achieved from
Kickstarter with USD $2.1 million plus Roberts’ own independent crowd-funding done directly on the RSI website.
A
thank-you note with a brief outline has been posted on the RSI website, including plans with reward tiers for backers and their special ships, and what is to come in general.
For the sake of this game let’s hope that this truly comes out in Roberts’ vision as shown, and not another Derek Smart game (yes, I’m looking at you
Battlecruiser 3000AD!). I’m hoping for a great sandbox experience, but we already have
one really brutal universe out there.
In short if you haven’t been following what
Star Citizen is, this is what it proposes to be:
• A rich universe focused on epic space adventure, trading and dogfighting in first person.
• Single Player – Offline or Online(Drop in / Drop out co-op play)
• Persistent Universe (hosted by US)
• Mod-able multiplayer (hosted by YOU)
• No Subscriptions
• No Pay to Win
