Team Native Gaming (TN, TnG or nG for short) are another console clan
born after the release of Modern Warfare 3, but who have in their life
span proved to be top class competitors. The team and its individual
players have already established themselves in the community and have
over the last few months become a force to be reckoned with.
When did the clan form?
The clan formed about 3 months after Modern Warfare 3 came out.
How many members were there at the start and what was the game of choice?
There were 4 members. Harrry nG, Diislexia nG, Rogue Z4 and Syndicate nG.
Any other games that the clan plays for a change of pace?
Most of us stick to MW3
. But every once in a while we jump to BF3.
How many members are you currently? Keen to give out their names, credit card details and ID numbers?
Alright, only Gamertags will do.
Haha, nice try though :P At the moment we have 6
members and one trial member. Niz nG (Leader), Flow nG (Co-eader),
Nadez nG, Syndicate nG, Diislexia nG, Recon nG and our trial member Le
Poizen.
Does the clan have an organisational structure? Or is it a free-for-all?
The team does have a leader who has a larger say
in the decisions of what happens the clan, however the members all have a
say as to what happens in the clan. We like to keep things even and not
become a dictatorship :)
How often do you try to play together as a clan?
We try to play as much as we can together, at
least two clan matches a week. But we also play a lot of public games
throughout the week.
You guys appear to be doing pretty well competitively.
You’ve entered a number of tournaments that teams or individuals have
gone on to win. What are the clans highlights?
Well Nadez and I (Niz nG) entered a 2upgamers LAN
and we won in the finals against XtaZ. Nadez also won the GECOSPORTS
free for all tournaments in Cape Town. For now we are focusing on the
Clan Connection tournament.
I assume you would consider yourselves a competitive clan and not one in it “for fun”?
Well obviously fun plays a huge part into getting
into the competitive side of gaming. But we do take our gaming
seriously and we like to win, if you take competitive gaming too lightly
you’re not gonna be the best, right? :)
Is attending LANs important to the clan and its members – especially considering the lack of LANs in the console scene?
Yes, attending LANs and local tournaments is
important; it helps get your name out there. We will be attending more
LANs when we have time. The more well known a member is the more
well-known his clan is.
Are you guys actively recruiting for new players? If so, how
should a potential member contact you and how do you decide on who is
right to join you?
Yes, we do have on new recruit, Le Poizen. He is
on trial at the moment, we will decide on his full recruitment once we
have seen him in action
. If one wants to be recruited you have to be recognized by us, that
means playing in pickups (clan matches with random teams for people
without clans) and showing potential.
What are you hoping to achieve in the future as a clan?
Short term, we are looking to win this Clan
Connection tournament. Long term we aim to possibly go overseas and
competing in the EGL or MLG circuits. We have been looking for a sponsor
for a couple of months and we are proud to announce that we have gotten
one! Gaming Cartel, owned by Ricardo Ludeke. Great company as well, if you want you could check them out at gamingcartel.co.za
As said above we are entering the Clan Connection tournament and we aim to win, as everyone should! Look out for us
In regards to professional – or competitive gaming – what do
you as a clan think needs to be done to raise the profile of South
African gaming?
Gaming in South Africa is small compared to that
of America’s or Europe’s gaming leagues. I would say send specific
teams/ clans overseas. If they win or even if they compete at high
levels South African gaming will be recognized to be of a high standard.
Right, let’s have a little fun…
If you weren’t a gaming clan you’d be…
a bunch of storm troopers out for world domination! Just kidding, but seriously world domination…
War movie that best describes the clan – Platoon or Tropic Thunder?
Platoon
If you guys had a music soundtrack for going to war, what would it be?
Fort Minor – Remember the name.
Thanks for your time – is there anything you would like to add before you head back out onto the virtual battlefield?
Thanks for the interview!
