Young and old, male or female, we all want to get our mech
on. It’s the sexiest machine known to mankind, and with Adhesive Games, free-to-play
mech shooter, HAЩʞEN, we can all strut our stuff the mech way.
It’s been a while since I’ve reported on the much
anticipated, strategy, first-person shooter hybrid, HAЩʞEN. Since
the date is nearing for all the beta players to lock and load, I want to remind
South African gamers to jump in on the fun. But first, have a look at this
gameplay trailer for a peek of some adrenaline-pumping Hawken action.
The HAЩʞEN world
- Join eight other mech warriors in the hunt for
resources on a dystopian human-colonized planet, industrialized to the point of
collapse.
- Players will have to outwit, outmanoeuvre and outshoot
the opposing mech team in order to claim control over the map.
- Mech wars will take place on a total of eight
unique maps, two of these are post-apocalyptic city, close quarter brawls and wide
expanse desert type encounters.
- Four game modes are planned for release: team
deathmatch, free-for-all deathmatch, "siege" and a co-op “Horde”
mode.
- Players can choose between three different
mechs; light, medium and heavy, each with its own unique purpose and
attributes.
- Each mech can be customized to fit your unique
player style.
- Hawken runs on the Unreal Development Kit (UDK),
which promises a cutting-edge game engine.
- Hawken supports the Oculus Rift. Owners of this innovative
gaming toy will be able to look around the exclusive cockpit interior, as well
as get a more three dimensional sense of the battlefield.
- The game is free-to-play, enlist for a beta
entry here.
The MWEB GameZone team challenges you!
Except for Brad (who is still recovering from our Team
Fortress stint), the entire GameZone team will be playing HAЩʞEN. We invite the MWEB
community to come take us on, if you dare. Just a warning, the GameZone team
features not one, but two kick-ass mech lady warriors. I have a mech called Lola, and then the lady of rockets and rails,Stephanie “Panda_Jerk” Duchenne,
who is now my side kick in this male infested industry will join in the fun.
HAЩʞEN release for PC on December 12. For the unenlightened ones who have not yet seen the HAЩʞEN
Web
series trailer, feast your eyes on this.
