Today marked the kickoff of Microsofts E3 press conference where some big announcements were made. One of which was the first reveal of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Today we will be taking a look at some of the new features that you will come to expect from the much anticipated first person shooter from Sledgehammer Games.

E3 gave Call of Duty fans their first chance to see what they can expect when the title hits shelves on the 4th of November this year. Players will be experiencing a Call of Duty title like no other as the enemies, weapons and basic movements have completely changed.

New weapons

Grenades

Grenades have changed rather dramatically in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. You will now be able to cycle through various effects of your grenade on a whim. Instead of having just one effect, the grenades will change to your preference. Want a basic lethal grenade? No problem, simply flick through your desired effect and boom you have your very own lethal grenade.

One of the grenades on display allowed you to temporarily see all the targets in the vicinity by  highlighting their silhouette via red digital markings. It is expected that this will only show the players positions for a short while before fading out.

Guns

Where we cant point out the exact name of the weapons just yet, there were three guns up for display. The first two seemed to be among the traditional lines of what we have come to expect; a shotgun and an assault rifle. The third, however, was completely out of the ordinary as a laser like projectile was used. It looked very similar to what most might call a rail gun. This rail gun allowed the user to lock onto targets, thus allowing the user to quickly dispose of enemy units.

Movement

One of the key features relating to movement had to do with the boosters that have been introduced to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The boosters allow for some interesting vertical movement. Players that fall from great heights can use the boosters to stabilize themselves and result in the players taking no damage from falls that would usually cause the player to temporarily lose health or even die. Boosters also allow players to jump higher and thus allows them to climb to areas that previously were inaccessible.

Boosters will have a gauge of use, this means that it will run out if the player continuously uses the boosters in quick succession.

Enemies

Aside from fighting against other humans, players will face drone swarms in the up and coming title. Where little is currently known about these swarms of drones, it is known that players can make use of the environment to defend against them. In the gameplay shown at E3, the player made use of a car door to shield himself against the onslaught of flying robots.

Downloadable Content coming first to Xbox One

Announced at E3 was the news that we have all come to expect, the downloadable content for the title will be provided for Xbox first.
