Through video games we can travel without moving because it is a catalyst for the imagination. Open world video games are especially good at this. Whether you are running around in the hostile jungles of Far Cry, or spraying graffiti all over Seattle in inFAMOUS Second Son, open world games provide a platform where players can get lost in virtual worlds to their hearts content. PlayStation Access released a video about the top ten Open World games for PlayStation.
In my article "Did Ubisoft create the first digital, ubiquitous city in Watch_Dogs?", I take a look at how Ubisoft displayed ubiquitous computing in the Chicago of Watch_Dogs. It will be the next leap in intelligent AI for video games. Animation Director, Colin Graham explain this leap when he talked about the AI we will encounter, "...they’re not just cardboard cutouts or mannequins. They interact with you. You will never see the same thing twice, guaranteed,” Graham says. “Your experience is unique. You go around this corner and the ten people that are there will be ten completely different people. Ten different profiles, ten different backgrounds, different actions, different combinations of actions.”
Watch_Dogs releases on May 27 for PlayStation 4/3, Xbox 360/One, PC and Wii U.
