In a recent
Dev Blog from the boys over at EVE online, CCP Guard goes into some detail about the first set of ships that are given to players, according to race, and the importance in their look and feel and relevance for new players. Included is also a video piece that shows the process of introducing new ships into the game all the way from concept art, through to final Quality Assurance.
I for one, hate having rookie ships lying around all over the place, but thats mainly beauase I cannot really use them as I would use a shuttle - fast, quick off the mark and a bit of a shell against which your pod can survive a bit of a beating. But with that in mind, at least the Ibis doesn't look so horrid anymore - it really does look good now! Oh and, can i get a Knight Rider light show on the front of the Velator? plzkthxbye!
