The reviews for Syndicate are finally in and are looking rather awkward to say the least. It’s as if you’re in the 4th Grade, the new kid arrives and peoples opinions of him are very different. Disconcertingly different. I haven’t had a chance to play the game, but I have played enough of the demo to be interested.
It’s common for there to be a score disparity in just about every title that is released, but not one as crazy as this. There are a fair amount of equal scores in every 10 denominations, from the 60’s through to the 100’s.
Bit-Gamer gave it 50/100 and called it a supreme joke, primarily due to the fact that it appears hypocritical; ridiculing a massive corporate when the game is published by one of the biggest corporations in the world.
Quite the jab was Official Xbox Magazine UK’s comment, “Syndicate feels like a deeply average game in a cunning, expensive disguise.” and then went on to say, “Stare at the screenshots and you'll wonder how something that looks so slick can be as disappointing as it is.”
It’s not all grizzly though, Official Xbox Magazine (The official one this time) noted the game’s amazing art direction, beautiful frame-rate and great voice acting.
GamingXP praised the absence of an online pass, giving it 86/100, and the often critical Giant Bomb scored it full marks, stating that the world is extremely interesting in-and-of itself but warns the consumer not to expect much from the ending.
In summary: Single player sucks, looks pretty and co-op is it’s shining feature. If that’s cool by you, your personal review might be at the higher part of 100...
