It is time to get right back into the Call of Duty: Ghosts action as this week we have one of the most lethal tips and tricks for our menacing soldiers. Many of our regular readers have come to know that the Call of Duty Championship is just around the corner, where players will be competing for $1 million in prize money. Accordingly, today's tips and tricks will follow the confines of the ruleset and will see us taking a look at the 3 pieces of lethal equipment that will be available for use in the tournament as well as in the general eSports mode found in Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Lethal grenades play a huge role in Call of Duty, they can help you get a an early kill in search and destroy, save a potential portal capture in blitz and even get you a multikill in domination when the enemy is flooding the capture point. Lethal grenades offer you two potential ways of helping your cause. The first is that they do the obvious, by killing an opposition player. The second, is that they allow you to do damage on your opposition, thus giving you the chance to work out their position.

Overall lethal grenades can dictate the result of a match, if they used correctly. Today we will be taking a look at the three lethal pieces of equipment for competitive play in Call of Duty:Ghosts. Before we jump into the lethal grenades there are two terms we need to look at, being prep time and fuse time. Prep time it the duration it takes to get the grenade ready and then be thrown. Fuse time is how long it takes before the grenade explodes.

Frag Grenade

  • Prep time: 1:13 seconds
  • Fuse Time: 3.26 seconds
  • Radius: 6.5 meters
  • Damage at center: 130
  • Damage at edge:  55

Summary: The frag grenade is arguably the most versatile of the all the lethal equipment. This is thanks to its long fuse time that allows you to cook the grenade. Cooking a grenade means that you will be holding down the grenade longer, to shorten the explosion time once it has been released from your hand. This allows you to time explosions, thus catching your opposition off guard with no time to run away from the resulting explosion. The frag grenade also can be thrown at the greatest distance, this means it is vitally useful in search and destroy when preventing rushes or protecting bomb sites.

Recommendations:

  • Strong arm (Handling Perk)
  • Extra Lethal (Equipment Perk)
  • Danger Close (Equipment Perk, for public games only)
  • Reflex (Handling Perk)

Semtex

  • Prep time: 1:13 seconds
  • Fuse Time: 1.93 seconds
  • Radius: 6.5 meters
  • Damage at center: 130
  • Damage at edge:  55

Summary: The semtex grenade is a timed explosive device that starts its countdown upon release. This allows users of the semtex more time to precisely aim the grenade at a desired location. The semtex grenade also sticks to the first surface that it makes contact with. The semtex is all about precision as you need to make sure that you hit that perfect spot for you to get a kill. With an extremely short fuse time, the semtex doesn't stick around (you see what I did there) for too long.

Recommendations:

  • Strong arm (Handling Perk)
  • Extra Lethal (Equipment Perk)
  • Danger Close (Equipment Perk, for public games only)
  • Reflex (Handling Perk)

Throwing Knife

  • Prep time: 1 seconds
  • Fuse Time: 0 seconds
  • Radius: n/a
  • Damage: 200

Summary: The throwing knife is without a doubt the most difficult pieces of equipment to use in the game. The knife is retrieval, meaning that should you miss or hit a target, it will collectible for reuse at the location that it lands. The throwing knife causes instant death on impact and will leave your enemy with a pretty cool death cam most often than not. The throwing knife is all about practice, and is hardly used in the competitive environment due to its high skill requirement.

Recommendations:

  • Strong arm (Handling Perk)
  • Extra Lethal (Equipment Perk)
  • Reflex (Handling Perk)

That concludes the Tips & Tricks for this week, make sure that you have your lethal equipment ready for some damage in your next match.
