After a lot of hard fought battles on the MWEB Battlefield 3 servers last night, the
Mind Sports South Africa's tournament came to a conclusion with
FiB taking top honours in a clean sweep of all their matches, losing only a single round against one of their competitors,
ASF.
The purpose of the tournament was to select a South African team to officially represent our country at
Clanbase's premium tournament, the
Nations Cup XV. The FiB team will compete in the Battlefield 3 PC Conquest ladders against teams from 23 other countries including UK, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden and Australia.

A very special mention needs to go out to some of the people that were invaluable in making this a successful event:
- Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) - The MSSA team worked hard throughout the weekend, not to mention the two weeks leading up to the tournament, to make this event happen.
- The Referees - Rynier Schoeman (Cranky), assisted by Frans Brewis, did a fantastic job in ensuring that the tournament as a whole ran very smoothly, scores were kept up-to-date and disputes were handled quickly and efficiently.
- Server Admin - Reinhard Rheeder-Kleist (Choc_Salties) gave up his afternoon and evening to setup and manage the servers for the event. We are proud that he is part of our MWEB GameZone team.
- The participants - All the teams that took part were professional and committed to the event. Great to see such sportsmanship in South African eSports.
The MWEB GameZone looks forward to opportunities like this to further eSports in South Africa, and we pledge our support to FiB to help them represent South Africa proudly in the Nations Cup. To help in their preparations, Clan FiB will be provided with their own Battlefield 3 Clan server and Teamspeak server for the duration of the Nations Cup competition.
Next year its our hope to get more SA teams involved in the other games offered for Nations Cup such as Starcraft 2, League of Legends, Counter-Strike and so forth. We will endeavour to work with MSSA to ensure official representation at these events.
