When we discovered what eSAd stood for, our immediate thought was: “why the hell would we want to do that?" But colour us intrigued, we just had to dig a little deeper and find out more about the clan…
What does eSAd stand for?
eSAd stands for “eat shit and die”
When did the clan form and what was the game of choice?
The clan formed in 2009 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was where it all started.
What is the clan’s main game of choice currently?
Currently we are into Black Ops 2 and Modern Warfare 3.
Any other games that the clan plays together for fun?
No other games as a clan.
How often do you try to play together as a clan?
We play every night together. We usually have 90% of the clan on in an evening.
You are an Xbox 360 clan. Any plans to expand to the ‘dark side’?
We started on Xbox yes, and we have got a player that is starting to grow us on the PS3 side too.
How many members are you currently? Keen to give out their names, credit card details and ID numbers?
Alright, only Gamertags will do.
We are currently 15 members. mikedemes(Michael), Th3 ORIG1NAL, (Michael), Fear1esSxHUNTER(Jantjie), xLeGnDaRySaiNtx(Charlie), BoOmBOX K1LLA(Ruan), DeviantWolf1(Vian), RagedBU113T(Rubin), giftedgaz(Gareth), stoner7643(Ernest), xAnarchyxSaintx(Dean), Kill3rUnl34sh3d(Kenneth), Ghost9990(Brandon), MANARK79(Sean), Ozzy901(Jay-C), RoletiZA(Tim), Head4ne Jack(Jack)
How is the clan structured in terms of a management structure?
Like a business. We have the founders (mikedemes and Giftedgaz), then management (mikedemes Gaz and AnarchySaint). We have clan meetings once a week to discuss strategies, problems and issues where we are heading with the clan as a whole. We discuss clan matches and scrims for the week. We have two senior players, TheOriginal and Fearlesshunter (they can take all the problems of the clan and clan members up with management..).
Would you consider the clan a “serious competitive clan” or one in it for “shits and giggles”?
We used to be shits and giggles, now over the last 2 months we’ve gotten more serious and more competitive.
Is attending LANs important to the clan and its members – especially considering the lack of LANs in the console scene?
We haven’t attended any but are in negotiations with trying to get some set up and be involved in them.
Are you guys actively recruiting for new players? If so, how should a potential member contact you and how do you decide on who is right to join you?
We need to start recruiting on the PS3 side as Xbox is full up for us. We are always open to it. Requirements to join would be a K:D ratio of 1.0 or 200 SPM on Black Ops 2.
What are you hoping to achieve in the future as a clan?
We want to be known by all online gaming communities. Want to become professional gamers and quit our day jobs. Haha!
Which opposing clan(s) do you most respect?
We respect all the competitive clans.
In regards to professional – or competitive gaming – what do you as a clan think needs to be done to raise the profile of South African gaming?
More competitions, more clan exposure, more LAN sessions and sponsorships.
Right, let’s have a little fun…
If you weren’t a gaming clan you’d be…
…protesters protesting against the use of noob tubes and heartbeat sensors.
War movie that best describes the clan – Platoon or Tropic Thunder?
If you guys had a music soundtrack for going to war, what would it be?
Seven Nation Army – White Stripes
Thanks for your time – is there anything you would like to add before you head off?
Please note: Clan Q&A’s can be conducted up to eight weeks before they are published so some information may already have changed.
