Blizzard had better start watching out, as Valve is getting into the auction house business as well. Steam recently launched their Community Market
, which will allow players to buy and sell specific items in their TF2 inventory.
The Community Market is still in beta and therefor has some restrictions – initially you’ll only be able to buy and sell Team Fortress 2 consumables and tools, including paints, keys, and crates. Items can be sold either on the Community Market home page or directly within your inventory. Funds accrued from these activities will be added to your Steam Wallet.
One thing to be aware is that there will be a transaction fee of 15% on all goods traded on the Community Market. There are several things to note and most of those questions are handled on the FAQ on the Steam support pages
Seems that Saxton Hale’s dream of “phase out all Earth money in favour of Team Fortress hats” will soon become reality!
